I get so many people asking me how I got involved in Fitness competitions, so here is my story...

It all started in 1992 when I went to my first competition... they didn't even have fitness contests yet so it was a bodybuilding Competition in Stratford ON, Canada. After watching the contest I knew this was something I wanted to try. That whole year I trained my butt off, it worked out well since I worked at a gym as a trainer and aerobics instructor. I knew a lot of people at the gym thought it was a joke for Steph to do a bodybuilding show since my background was dance, long distance running and I was an aerobics instructor needless to say I didn't carry much muscle mass, but that even motivated me more. After a year of intense heavy lifting and a strict diet I entered the 1993 Stratford bodybuilding show.

People including myself were pretty impressed by what I did to my physique in one year, and the great part about it was I did the training and dieting myself, with a few tips from a few friends from the gym.

The day of the show there were 6 girls in my class and I placed second. When I look back to those pictures I looked like a sting bean! I had some muscle but I was so shredded I only weighed 116 pounds and now I compete at 130 pounds...quite a difference! I was pretty excited about the outcome of this show!

A few months later there was contest in Windsor for a fitness contest called Ms. Fitness Canada, USA competition. It was one of the first fitness competitions in Canada. With my background of dance I thought this would be perfect. Thirteen girls entered this show, and I had a great time! I ended up winning the show; I enjoyed this much more than bodybuilding.

After that competition I knew I had a new passion. Since then I've been in over 26 fitness competitions. I received my I.F.B.B. Pro Card in 1996 and qualified for the Fitness Olympia my first pro year. Although I haven't qualified since I've been close 4th place (top three of any pro show qualify for the Olympia) so hopefully this year 2005 I will be back!

I feel I've been Blessed in this industry! I've had nothing but great experiences and I have met wonderful people. I have worked my a_ _ off though, but when you work hard and have passion in what you do you will have success!

PVL Fit Foods (Nutrients) have been very supportive and a big part of my life. As any competitor knows being armature or a pro competitor is very expensive! Costumes, music, and travel the list goes on. After my first few years as competing as a pro I was going to retire because of financial reasons and that's when PVL stepped in right at the perfect time. I always used their supplements and contacted them about sponsorship. I worked a few events for them and then they signed me up, YAAA! I didn't have to retire.

I've been with them for over 5 years now and they have been nothing but supportive and encouraging! I love their products so much that I quit my job at the gym as a Personal Trainer and Nutrition Consultant to be a PVL Nutrients Sales Rep (and believe me I'm not a sales person!) Believing in the product and loving people I have become their top sales rep! Also during the past three years they even had me host a television series called the PVL Finally Fit Challenge on Roger's Television. It's a twelve week transformation series where we diet (also using PVL products like Whey Gourmet ect.) and train people to reach their physical and nutritional goals. The show has been a great success and has and could open up many more doors for me in the industry.

So as you can see PVL has done a lot for me! They are my sponsors, my job, they gave me a television series, and I love and use their products my favorites are Whey Gourmet, GLT 3, Whey Gold 2, and Cutter. So when you work hard it pays off. Thanks PVL!
